RAIL CoLAB and MEDWAY Sign Partnership to Build a Freight Laboratory Train

João Fernandes (RAIL CoLAB president) and Carlos Vasconcelos (MEDWAY) signed an agreement to develop a Freight Laboratory Train, on May 22nd, 2025, in Entroncamento. The protocol was presented in a public ceremony during this year's edition of the Portugal Railway Summit, organized by the Portuguese Railway Platform Cluster Association (PFP), which took place at the National Railway Museum. The barebones wagon, provided by MEDWAY, was already displayed during the event.

1st General Assembly 2025

At University of Coimbra, the Board presented to the Associates the Activity Plan for 2025, including all the activities to progress with the RAIL CoLAB alongside the budget and resources.

Portugal Railway Summit 2024

João Fernandes presented the multiple areas to which RAIL CoLAB will focus on working in the future, at anual Portugal Railway Summit, organized by the Portuguese Railway Cluster.

Meeting with Infrastructure Secretary of State

With a focus on the evolution of the national railways, RAIL CoLAB meet with the Secretary of State to introduce the Laboratory and its potential.

2023

On May 3rd, João Fernandes presented the RAIL CoLAB in the largest Portuguese Railway Summit, organized by the Portuguese Railway Cluster.

First Election

After the creation of the Association, the first board members were elected, with Nomad Tech being elected Chairman of the Board, alongisde Medway, IST, FEUP and Mota-Engil.

October 12th, 2022

RAIL CoLAB Created

October 12th, 2022 marks the day of RAIL CoLAB's deed. All the members of the Association were present and the collaborative railway laboratory was officially set up.
